Hi, my name is Robert Turner and I'm a student-athlete from Bloomfield, Connecticut. And the reason why I believe that the Bloomfield community is such a great place to raise a family goes way beyond just the basics for me. And what I mean by that is like, granted we are a small town, but we are a small town built of people that have some of the biggest hearts. I think that's such a beautiful thing because we've created this foundation that we want to live in harmony with each other. And that kind of says that like, yeah, we're not blood and we're different from each other, but we love each other. And we want to walk, we want to walk with each other through that. And that's such a beautiful thing to raise a family around. And that's one of the biggest things on why the community is so strong. I personally grew up in a small safe neighborhood, but neighbors knew neighbors and I knew some other neighbors and they knew some other people and we'd all come together and have one of the biggest block parties ever. And that would happen all the time during the summer. And it'd be everywhere all over Bloomfield. There'd be different cultures like Africans, Latinos, Hispanics, Jamaicans. It would be like a ton of different cultures and everybody would just be around. Strangers making friends with other strangers and families just dancing and music and food. I really wish I didn't take those things for granted because it was such a key part of my childhood. That's such a beautiful thing to raise families around because it goes to show like, hey, these are strangers, but at the same time, this is your community. Enjoy it. And I enjoyed it so much. It was amazing. And some of the other things that really helped just create a beautiful place to raise a family is the sports. It gives kids an opportunity to excel at the things that they love to do. The sports that we had was football, basketball, soccer, track. There's a variety of sports. A lot of the time it would be free or like donations for like with gear and everything. And, you know, allowed kids to thrive at the things that they love to do, but also gave opportunities for events to be created. You know, like the cookouts while you watch a soccer game or, you know, like the parades. And it was just amazing. We have some really good schooling and the administration does a fantastic job of making sure that every kid gets an equal opportunity, you know, to be great. Granted, it is the kid's decision, but it would be after school programs to really help make sure that they're excelling in their classes and give opportunities that maybe other kids don't have from different towns to walk in a path of success. And that is just amazing. And we would have so many different parks and events that the mayor would put together like the July 4th and fireworks that really brings community close together. And it just really helps knowing that you have a good community as a child and as, you know, a family to know that, like, hey, I picked the right town to be in. And that those are just some of the reasons why I believe that Bloomfield is such a beautiful town to raise a family.
