Community Voices: Jayden on how to describe Douglasville to an outsider

If someone had ever been to my hometown, the reputation around the town would be fun, peaceful, and great people. Every day is something new.

Jayden Crawford (Basketball, Georgia Southern University) grew up in Douglasville. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Jayden Crawford’s, in full.

The question

If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Jayden Crawford’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

If someone had ever been to my hometown, the reputation around the town would be fun, peaceful, and great people. Every day is something new. You always learn something new, whether it's how to work on a car better, how to fish, or your basketball trainers. Each one of those people leads you back to another person. Someone that might work on cars can lead you to someone how to fix a boat. One of the times where my hometown made me feel welcome is when I transferred back to Alexandria for my last year. That went big. I just had so much love from my hometown after being away for three years. That's when I knew I wouldn't want to play in any other hometown that doesn't count.
