y'all? VL is here again. Day 2 back in the weight room, you know, getting a little, getting a little yeah to me.

Vee Edwards (Basketball, Harper College) grew up in Chicago. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Vee Edwards’s, in full.

Vee Edwards for HelloNation.

The question

Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Vee Edwards’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

What's up, y'all? VL is here again. Day 2 back in the weight room, you know, getting a little, getting a little yeah to me. But a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged me the most and gave me life lessons that really stuck with me was Troy Caldwell. That was my varsity basketball coach my freshman and sophomore year. Coach Caldwell always taught that toughness is what you need. You need to be mentally tough, physically tough to get anywhere in life because stuff's going to get hard and you got to be able to persevere through it. He taught me that keeping God first is the main thing. Being a man is also a main thing. So if you do that, everything else is going to work itself out. Just keep God first. Keep persevering. It's going to get tough and you got to be tougher. So yeah, shout out Coach Caldwell.
