Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Joshua Brooks’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Tell a story about a moment when your hometown came together and achieved something that made you proud. Chicago came together in a powerful way during the historic Chicago blizzard of 1967 when neighbors dug each other out of two feet snow and shared food and work. Another defining moment of unity happened during the Chicago heat wave of 1995 when ordinary civilians organized and stepped up to save lives during the crisis of the year. That's the reason why I'm proud because we came together to help one another. So I feel like that really made me proud because like we became like we all became together to help one another. We didn't want to see nobody fall, get hurt, none of that. So yeah.
