Hi, my name is Keon Henderson. I'm a basketball player at Kentucky State University. The biggest mentor in my life is Mr. Henderson. Mr. Henderson was my high school teacher. During my time in high school, I struggled to find balance between athletics and academics. As a freshman coming into high school right out of middle school, I didn't understand how I could balance my time wisely. Mr. Henderson gave me advice and told me that in life, you'll never find balance, but always find alignment. So with that advice, I made sure everything I was doing was aligning with my goals, and that was becoming a 4.0 student and also being one of the top players in the state of Michigan for athletics. During that time, Mr. Henderson guided me, gave me different types of life lessons, different types of techniques that I could use when studying, when preparing for tests and quizzes, and also he gave me different types of advice when it came to being the best person I can on the court. Mr. Henderson instilled a toughness in me that has gotten me all the way to college. During my time in college, I've taken those same tools and those same skills and managed to become one of the valedictorians of my class. During this time, I've also been able to create many relationships of other mentors who inspire me in just great ways. During that time of high school, I learned that when you have great mentors in your life, they can change your life for the best. Thank you, and I really appreciate Mr. Henderson and his time during my time in high school.
