Community Voices: Bowen on the person who shaped them in Castle Rock

One of my teachers from high school that has inspired me and stuck with me as I've gotten into college was my physics teacher who taught me to learn how to enjoy learning.

Bowen Tabola (Baseball, Missouri State University) grew up in Castle Rock. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Bowen Tabola’s, in full.

The question

Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Bowen Tabola’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

One of my teachers from high school that has inspired me and stuck with me as I've gotten into college was my physics teacher who taught me to learn how to enjoy learning. That it's not always just about getting the grade or about always getting something right, but it's about taking risks, getting things wrong, and learning from the mistakes that you make. It's really helped me as I've gotten into college, as I've taken harder and harder classes, that I'm actually learning to love what I'm doing and continuing to learn in different aspects of my life.
