Marcus Von (Soccer, Grand Canyon University) grew up in Broomfield. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Marcus Von’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about a person or business doing something worth knowing about in your hometown — the town you grew up in, not your college town. Who are they, what are they doing, and why should people outside your hometown hear about it?

Hello, my name is Marcus Vaughn. I am a Division I soccer player at Grand Canyon University, and today I just want to take a little bit of time to talk about my hometown, Broomfield, Colorado. I grew up in Broomfield, amazing community, amazing place to grow up because not just the people, but the activities, the events, the sports teams, the academics, everything you can think of, it has it all. Not to mention the outdoor scenes. We're 20 minutes away from the Rocky Mountains, and so everybody is in shape, not to throw shame at anybody who's not in shape, but everybody's in shape, everybody likes to do activities. But something that I wanted to touch on, which is special to our community, is just how involved everybody is. For example, we do this thing called Broomfield Days every year, and Broomfield Days is an entire week just celebrating the town. They do stuff like markets, and they do a, everybody is at the football game on Friday night. Saturday, they do a race. Sunday, they do a march through the city. They do a parade. It just makes the city come together. The mayor's there, the schools are all there. It's just what makes the city special. So that's just a little bit about my city, a little bit about where I come from. Thank you.
