Tyshon Patty (Baseball, Jackson State University) grew up in Lawrenceville. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Tyshon Patty’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about the downtown or Main Street in your hometown — the town you grew up in, not your college town. What's there, what's changed? Name the places you'd point a visitor to, and tell us what's different from when you were growing up.
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Tyshon Patty’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Hi guys, it's Ty here. So I'm from Lawrenceville. So they have a place called Downtown Lawrenceville, and I would say that growing up, it was very modern, like very old school. So it's just like a lot of buildings down there. And I would say new additions they have, it's called Lawrenceville Lawn Playground, where it's a lot of people, you can take your kid out there. And I would say they have a lot of concerts, music festivals. So it's really packed up now. So we're like people my age, young 20s, they can enjoy themselves out there. And I would say they have a plaza for young adults to go out there. And I would say they have a place called Bryn's Frozen Custard, some of the best ice cream I'd recommend going down there traveling. But I would say for someone visiting, they go in the area, check out Downtown Lawrenceville, especially if you have kids. They have a new playground, new turf, they have music festivals for everybody. But yeah, I would recommend that for tourists touring Lawrenceville.
