Aidan Olazabal (Lacrosse, Yale University) grew up in Mc Lean. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Aidan Olazabal’s, in full.
The question
If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?
The answer, as recorded

For someone who has never been to my hometown, and I'm from McLean, Virginia, you know, it's 10 minutes, I would say, right outside of DC in Northern Virginia. And the word I would use to describe McLean is very cozy. I've been living here since fourth grade, where I moved over from California. And, you know, I was kind of uncertain about how the adjustment was going to go. And obviously, you know, I was born and raised in California. So I kind of felt like a whole new world being shifting over and moving over to the East Coast. But it has been a phenomenal, phenomenal experience. You know, I use the term cozy because one, because the relationships with some of my closest friends, you know, I moved over in fourth grade, but I still, you know, cherish some of the connections and relationships that I've had with some of my closest buddies. I think also just, you know, it feels very, you know, warm in terms of, you know, there's so many local spots you can go to, I think of the local diner, you know, silver diners, five minutes down the road from my house, as well as, you know, I want to say, um, say, uh, one of the, one of the names that comes up to mind is a New York style, New York style deli called Santini's, which, you know, me and my buddies after lacrosse games, or it's after middle after school, back in middle school, when school's over, we just head over there and get something to eat. But it's, it's the little things like that you get to cherish. And McLean is just an unbelievable spot that provides those opportunities and provides those areas to go to, so.
