Arissa Baker (Cheerleading, University of the Cumberlands) grew up in La Follette. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Arissa Baker’s, in full.
The question
If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?
The answer, as recorded

If I met someone who had never been to my hometown of La Folla, Tennessee, I would describe its character as unique and its reputation as Southern. Living in such a small town in East Tennessee brings for a lot of random adventures with us not having a lot to do around here. But one thing we do have is Norris Lake, which is one of the biggest lakes that brings in a ton of travelers for us throughout the summer, which makes it so much fun to meet and see all these new smiling faces enjoying the atmosphere that we get to live in every day. We are in the heart of Appalachia, making beautiful mountains and the prettiest scenery. Although there's not a lot of things to do, we will do anything to have a good time. When I say it's Southern, I mean it. Four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, all of the above. We love it all, as long as you have a sweet tea in your hand while doing it. We're definitely welcoming. If you meet anyone here, I promise you they're happy you're here. They're going to give you directions to the local Mexican restaurant El Poblito's. They even tell you to go down the sideline for an umbrella. That's the best part about being around here is everyone loves each other and is super welcoming. That's why I love my small town. And that's what I'll tell somebody if they've never been here before.
