Community Voices: Ashley on how to describe Jessup to an outsider

If someone had never been to Jessup, I would describe its character as like a place that is bustling but at the same time is very calm.

Ashley (Lacrosse, Coker University) grew up in Jessup. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Ashley’s, in full.

Ashley for HelloNation.

The question

If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Ashley’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

If someone had never been to Jessup, I would describe its character as like a place that is bustling but at the same time is very calm. What makes it unique is that like based on where it's situated it's like we have like huge cities around us like Washington DC and Baltimore that are filled with like all this culture and stuff but even like Jessup itself is filled with culture like the amount of like memorable like festivals that we have and like influence that it has on like you know the places around us like you know lacrosse is a big thing in Jessup in Maryland in general and Jessup being in Howard County it's known for lacrosse like that is a big area where lacrosse like came from, grows from, and continues to grow from.
