Ashley (Lacrosse, Coker University) grew up in Jessup. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Ashley’s, in full.
The question
Tell a story about a moment when your hometown came together or achieved something that made you proud.
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Ashley’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
A moment from when my hometown came together and achieved something that made me proud is that the new high school they built, it's called Guilford Park. For the first year that their boys played football, they actually made it all the way to, I believe it was the state championships. They did not win championships, however, the way that everybody came out and supported them and the crowd and the atmosphere and everything like that, it made me really proud to see that everybody was supporting sports that much in my hometown, regardless if it was the sport I played or not. And the biggest part of that is they were playing Howard High, which is a very big school within my hometown, and they actually won their first county title by beating that other high school. So, everyone coming together and supporting them made me really proud to be a part of my hometown.
