Ashley (Lacrosse, Coker University) grew up in Jessup. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Ashley’s, in full.
The question
What makes your community a great place to raise a family?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Ashley’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
What makes my community a great place to raise a family is that because of where Jessup is, it is right in between like two major cities, DC and Baltimore. And the great thing about that is like, Jessup has like parts where it's like these, you know, very like, almost like I would say country roads where it's like very calm and it's a lot of farmland. And then you have other parts that are just like bustling with businesses or, you know, you drive, you know, 10 minutes one way and you're into a like big old city like, you know, Baltimore, DC. And like the great thing about that is like, because we're so close to those major cities, but so close to like the suburbs is that, you know, a lot of different cultures, like we, there's a lot of different cultures, like, you know, we have little Italy in Baltimore and we have like, you know, little China and stuff like that. And then there's a bunch of like different cultural events that go on, like, you know, whether it's like a festival for like, you know, little Italy, or we have like festivals, like, you know, the Main Street Festival and Laurel and like Savage Fest, like all these different like community things too, where it's like, you know, yeah, we're part of like a huger city, but like, we also have our little city that's very calm and we all like know each other and can have like, you know, things where we bond over like, you know, different like arts and crops and foods and stuff like that.
