The question
Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?

Hello, I'm Connor Steichen, and I play golf at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Growing up in Omaha, I went to a high school called Creighton Prep. I had a mental coach there named Mr. Kaminski. In golf, mental game is so important, and it is really important to stay sharp, so Mr. Kaminski helped me with this a lot. He would always challenge me to two things, don't be afraid of success, and no matter what happens, make sure you learn something. These two things have stuck with me to this day, and I am so grateful for them. In college athletics, there is a lot of pressure on you, and you have to be accepting of the result. Also, when you get into situations where you have the opportunity to win, it can be very hard and sometimes scary. The lesson of him telling me do not be afraid of success is very important because as athletes, our goal is always to win, but that does not happen a lot. We need to be accepting of these results, and always strive to be the best we can be. Thank you.
