Jamari Curlett (Track & Field (Outdoor), Bethany college) grew up in Erie. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Jamari Curlett’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Jamari Curlett’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Hello Nation, my name is Jamari Collette, and my high school mentor is my cousin, Javon Johnson. He pushed me to be the best version of myself, no matter what. He told me to always chase your dreams, because when you get older, you're going to regret not chasing your dreams when you were younger. That's something that really hit my heart, and now I'm really chasing my dreams being in college. He just gave me daily motivational quotes every day, and I just took that and wrote it down in my notes, and when I'm in college and I'm feeling down, or I just need some motivation, I just look at those quotes, and they make me feel good, and I just go about my day, and I feel good.
