Tate Hoover (Football, Ball State University) grew up in Manhattan. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Tate Hoover’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Tate Hoover’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
A teacher and mentor from my high school who challenged me the most was Coach Schartz. He was my strength and conditioning coach in high school. He really challenged me on the football field and in the classroom each and every single day. I carry even stuff now into college, things from him that he taught me during high school. Many of our core pillars we had, hard work works, deeds not words, stuff like that, I still carry to this day and it really means a lot to me. It still shapes who I am and the hard work that I instill each and every single day.
