Tyler Becker (Football, California State University, Fresno) grew up in San Diego. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Tyler Becker’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Tyler Becker’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
One teacher or mentor that really inspired me to be who I am today is definitely my head coach in high school, Nick Barnett. He challenged me each and every day to just be the best version of myself and bring in a good attitude no matter what happens. And even through the hard times that you always got to have a good mindset and have a marathon mentality that it's going to pay off at the end of the day. So just keep attacking every day and that's what he taught me. So I'm thankful to have him as my head coach and not only a head coach but a mentor because outside of football he was there for me and just teaching me how to be a better person and a better player on the field.
