Lilliana Sanchez (Cross Country, Monroe University) grew up in TX. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Lilliana Sanchez’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about the downtown or Main Street in your hometown — the town you grew up in, not your college town. What's there, what's changed? Name the places you'd point a visitor to, and tell us what's different from when you were growing up.
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Lilliana Sanchez’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Hi guys! So just to talk a little bit about my hometown, San Antonio downtown. It's very focused on history, like the Alamo, and it also has a lot of cultural significance like the Riverwalk, but I think a big place that a lot of tourists sleep on is the Japanese tea gardens. I know everybody from San Antonio always goes there for like prom photo shoots, any special events, kinsei photo shoots, but honestly I think more tourists should get involved with that because the Japanese tea gardens is a beautiful place, first of all, and it is also an incredible place to learn more about different cultures, not just Hispanic, but also Asian American culture that has risen in San Antonio. But yes, and another good place is the San Antonio Zoo. I know that's one of my favorite places to go. I love the Komodo dragons. It's just a great way to spend time with your family. They have so much stuff for kids, adults, young adults, and just amazing things to do.
