Callie Fisher (Track & Field (Indoor), Texas Southern University) grew up in Indianapolis. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Callie Fisher’s, in full.
The question
If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Callie Fisher’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Hey everyone, it's me, Callie Fisher, and I go to Texas Southern University. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. If I had to describe what makes Indianapolis unique, memorable, and influential, and all its characteristics about its reputation, I would say Indianapolis is built on a heart, tradition, and a community. From having the excitement of the Indy 500 to all the quiet but safe neighborhoods where families grow together, Indianapolis has a way of making people feel at home in a strange way. Its character comes with hard-working people, strong values, and communities that always show up for one another. Not only that, but there's great farmers markets and things to do with your families like the Children's Museum, the Fountain Square, even downtown. Downtown has some pretty amazing things, especially horseback rides and carriage riding too. So I would say it's hard to describe how Indianapolis is such a great place. You have to go see it for yourself and witness the beauty of it. It's full of life and mystery and it's just something that words can't explain. You just have to see and feel it.
