Community Voices: Joseph on why Indianapolis is a good place to raise a family

Pike is a great community to raise a family because the people make it feel like home. It's one of those communities where everybody knows everybody and you always feel supported.

Joseph Annan Jr (Basketball, Indiana University Kokomo) grew up in Indianapolis. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Joseph Annan Jr’s, in full.

The question

What makes your community a great place to raise a family?

Pike is a great community to raise a family because the people make it feel like home. It's one of those communities where everybody knows everybody and you always feel supported. There's so much for kids to do from back to school drives to summer camps and community events that bring everyone together. The school system is safe, high-rated, and really gives kids a chance to grow academically and socially. One of my favorite memories is going back to school events with my mom, my siblings, cousins, and friends. We get our school supplies for the year, play games, win prizes, talk to firefighters, read books. It was something I look forward to every single year. That's what makes Pike a great place for opportunity, connection, and community.
