Hey everyone, it's Callie. A specific story, a moment that my hometown came together and achieved something that really made an impact on me. There are actually two incidents. The first one is when my father passed away. My father passed away in 2017 and it was a really hard time for not only me but my younger siblings and my mom and one of my older siblings. The community around us knew our father as a very kind and giving person. He helped even when he needed help himself. So when they heard that he passed away, they were heartbroken and sorry. So they decided to put in their all and chip in to help not only his kids but my mom too. So seeing that really, really made me feel deeply for the community around me because not everyone in the community are horrible people. They actually step up when it's necessary, especially when it comes to helping children or helping a figure in the community who was such a great person. And another situation is COVID. COVID really had its impact on all families, especially my family and the families around me because we didn't live in the nicest neighborhoods. Our streets had potholes, mail was iffy, and just the overall safety of the neighborhood I grew up in wasn't the best. So when COVID came around, the local churches and local families and communities all came together to give out food for people, medicine, clothes, whatever they needed, they got it from just the community and the people around us. And I find that very dear to my heart because not a lot of people would do that, especially with other cities where they are off better financially. Not everyone has the financial gain or has a support system. So for a community to come together, such as my neighborhood, at a time where everyone is in need, not just one person, really stuck dearly in my heart and made me realize I don't only have a community but we have a foundation. We are a family.
