Ezequel Ceant (Lacrosse, Pfeiffer University) grew up in Vero Beach. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Ezequel Ceant’s, in full.
The question
If someone had never been to your hometown, how would you describe its character and reputation? What makes it unique, memorable, or influential?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Ezequel Ceant’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
If you've never been to Vera Beach, Florida, the home of the Fighting Indians, I suggest you should. I'll describe its character bold and its reputation authentic. There's things like that that attract you to places like Vera Beach, Florida. We call it the home of the Fighting Indians because Vera Beach High School is smack dab right in the middle. We have an amazing lacrosse team, amazing football team, and amazing sports all around. When it comes down to the town itself, we structure ourselves around our high school. We structure ourselves around our middle school, Oslo Middle. We structure ourselves around the elementary schools as well because we know how important it is to bring the students up. It's nothing like going to a Friday night football game and having the entire town there because we've made it to finals. And when it comes down to just the businesses in general, you get a sense of pure nostalgia, just things that you remember. It's such an influential environment because these businesses have been here longer than I was born. And they're all authentic. They're bold. They're personalized to the person who owns the businesses. You have places like Kilwin's, which is an amazing ice cream spot. You have places like Ocean Grill, which makes some really, really good seafood right on the beach. Waldo's is an amazing hybrid between a restaurant and a hotel dining, and it's made out of driftwood. Those are memorable, authentic, bold characters that you can find in River Beach, Florida.
