Community Voices: Hanna on what NY gets right

I play lacrosse at Syracuse University and I'm from Canandaigua, New York. My hometown means the absolute world to me.

Hanna Davis (Lacrosse, Syracuse University) grew up in NY. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Hanna Davis’s, in full.

The question

Tell us about a person or business doing something worth knowing about in your hometown — the town you grew up in, not your college town. Who are they, what are they doing, and why should people outside your hometown hear about it?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Hanna Davis’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

Hi, my name is Hannah Davis. I play lacrosse at Syracuse University and I'm from Canandaigua, New York. My hometown means the absolute world to me. Canandaigua is one of the Finger Lakes, so being able to go on the water whenever and just being able to always have fun with my friends. There's so many local businesses in Canandaigua. A new one that I love to go to recently is Diner on Main. It's a small diner right on Main Street. I also love to go to Nolan's on Lake and Coho and then a few other things about my hometown. The school district is absolutely amazing. One of my favorite teachers that I met there, I'm still so close with, Mary Ekdahl. I love her so much and so many other teachers at Canandaigua Academy just mean the world to me. But the town in general, the people are just so amazing and it's like one big family.
