Community Voices: Lilliana on what TX gets right

So for the person I want to shout out for somebody doing amazing things in my hometown, I want to shout out Christian Carranza.

Lilliana Sanchez (Cross Country, Monroe University) grew up in TX. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Lilliana Sanchez’s, in full.

The question

Tell us about a person or business doing something worth knowing about in your hometown — the town you grew up in, not your college town. Who are they, what are they doing, and why should people outside your hometown hear about it?

The answer, as recorded

Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Lilliana Sanchez’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.

So for the person I want to shout out for somebody doing amazing things in my hometown, I want to shout out Christian Carranza. She's a political activist, a woman trying to get a leading spot in House of Representatives, and she's doing incredible work, not only when it comes to education, women's rights, public rights, public safety, and so much more, but she's also just an inspiring role model. She comes from San Antonio. She comes from a public school. She comes from a very well-diverse background, and she knows where she's from, and she's very proud of it. So I just want to shout her out. She's definitely doing incredible things. I had the opportunity to go door-knocking with her to support her campaign, and although the period where I did work under her, she did not win her election, she's still currently running to this day, and I wish her the best of luck, and she's doing amazing things for the San Antonio community. Love, and I wish her luck.
