Mary Czaplicki (Rowing, University of Oklahoma) grew up in Roswell. HelloNation asks student athletes one question about the place that raised them and records the answer on camera. This is Mary Czaplicki’s, in full.
The question
Tell us about a teacher or mentor from high school who challenged you the most or inspired you in a way that still shapes who you are today. Who are they, and what lesson from them do you carry into your life now?
The answer, as recorded
Transcript. What follows is a transcript of the video above, in Mary Czaplicki’s own words. It has not been rewritten, and no part of it was drafted for them.
Hi, my name is Mary Sepulki, and I'm on the rowing team at the University of Oklahoma. I'm from Roswell, Georgia. A teacher from high school who inspired me was my senior year calculus teacher. She taught me that it's okay to have questions and it's okay to go to teachers or mentors for help. This is something that I carry on to this day because through being a student athlete and specifically being on the rowing team, I need to rely on my teammates and my coaches. I trust that I can go to my teammates and my coaches with both rowing and school-related questions or concerns that I have.
